no i just did the add/remove programs deal to remove the old drivers, then installed the new drivers.
any idea what codec it may need , because i have a few already installed like xvid, dvix.
DH has a good driver install guide here http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread. ... eadid=8053
Ignore the for noobs stuff. I use DriveCleaner2 instead of the reg stuff. It's on the front page at DH. As for the codecs, I can't find which ones they are. I remember their ones for Media player though.
I tried using driver cleaner 2 to un-install my old NVidia drivers before putting my ATI card last night, and must have screwed something up bad ! I received an error message while installing driver cleaner, and chose the "ignore" option, got rid of the drivers, slapped in the new card and was unable to install ANY ATI drivers......
Thank God above for Norton Ghost. I spent all last weekend installing XP and progs, and didn't want a repeat.......

1) If you play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, do not install the Catalyst 4.1 driver. You'll take a serious frame rate hit if you do (it even has that in the list of known issues).
2) The best way to install Service Pack 1 is to install it with XP. The way to do that is to make a "slipstream" disk with the Service Pack integrated into it (you also have USB 2.0 drivers at the time of the Windows installation).
