I think you may be closer to the truth than you think. I am still having issues with my internet just losing its connection for no reason and have to reboot my modem and router almost every day.

I rcvd a notice from Speedguide that my acct was attempted to be hacked by someone with IP addrsss 74.53.243.34. I googled it and saw bunch of hits where others have been hit by this ip too. its showing up as Dallas TX. Be careful with your logins!!!

CALL THEMM,CALLTHEM CALL THEM!!!! Until YOU, THE CUSTOMER, are satisfied. I did and they finally sent out a smart guy who figured out my issues.
Dont let them tell you that its YOUR problem because it aint!!

My advice is to just keep on them and make them keep coming out to check. Its your right as customer to get the service you pay (an arm and a leg) for.
I finally got lucky and got a great repair person that actually cared about helping me.

I had the worst time getting Charter to believe that THEY were the problem. I called and called and finally got a guy that knew what he was doing! I suggest you keep calling them.

Chances are the problem is outside your house , down the street or in the neighborhood somewhere. They never want to ...

I dot know what I was thinking. Sorry about that. I guess the best thing is to call your cable company and ask for the info.

I had the same issue with speed. somedays it was slower than a 56k dial up!! Here was a confluence of three bad issues happened at the same time:

a:I had a booster pumping signal TOO FAST

b: cable modem was fried due to over pumped signal

c: There was a bad cable router or something on the pole ...

here a possible website to test your cable modem wit hexacting details!

If you need to get ALL the data on your cable modem from Charter. here is a great tool as well. You may need to call the company to get the right logins.

I am also using VONAGE with a WRTP54G router 2.4 Ghz router.
nothing else on network except my PC. I also am using a AT&T 2.4ghz phone
Is it possible that my 2.4Ghz phone is slowing my connection down?
I am STILL getting upload and download speeds about 250kbps speeds even though i am on 3mbps ...

I am on the Charter 3MBPS service and am only getting 300kps today. i have tested every 30minutes so far today and service is very slow!
why cant it be more solid service, i feel cheated. its like ordering a hamburger and only getting a 1/4 hamburger on the plate.
