Cable Modem Internet Speed Drops

Post by Jim Prime »

Lately My Speed of the Internet Cable Modem drops from 5mbps to between 1mbps to 500kbps. Its really making me mad cause its causing my online gaming proformance to suffer with high pings and lags, I used Earthlink High speed internet through Time Warner Cable.

Plz help me with this issue, I will really appreciate it

Do you have any signal boosters installed?

 I have Charter cable in my home and I had a AC powered signal booster installed on my line (originally for the cable signal only) and I discovered that when i hooked up my modem to that cable line , it was going so fast, it eventually fried the modem. I was crawling at slower than a 56k dialup.
Thats something you can check. The cable tech installed it years ago and I had no idea it was even there.
Also call you cable tech support and ask them for the "cable modem test" website and logons. The tech took one look at those results and knew exactly what the issue was.
Hope it helps!
