There are no more available options. What i have been suggested in case of non-availability of Port-Forwarding option in a combo modem is to use it as a bridge thus forwarding all traffic to my pc and use some software to control PPPoE and Firewall.

I got this modem from my ISP. There is no documentation available.

I don't know much about that. How do you check either of the options: Live IP or Proxy one?
I do know that i have a dynamic IP(given to my modem/router), cause it keeps changing every time i restart my pc. I have given my pc a static IP though.

I would like to about the proxy ip.?

i know i got to port forward my router but it has no such option!. Thats strange and makes me think it might just be a modem after all. But it shows settings like NAT and FIREWALL which are enabled by default and i can't control them.

The thing is that i have tried port forwarding on my router and it is still unaccessible from outside. So i wanted to know what all is happening so i could understand it better. My ports are open, i have proper entries in the windows firewall but still for some reason i am invisible from outside ...

here it is sorted by port and port 21(telnet ) is clearly visible in listening mode which is unavailable from outside.

I agree that the port20/21 are not listening. But i have port23(telnet) and others in listening mode. here =>

and after i observed this, i took the test again and again found that the services could not be contacted from outside!

Anyways what i was asking for was a way to find out what all computers were connected to the other side of a router(of another network). Ya sure there are many softwares available that help u do it, but i want to find a way without using ...

I did add port in windows firewall as follows:
1.> port 21 (ftp service)
2.> port 20 (ftp data)
but still i got ports closed.
I saw my modem settings lately and found it had a firewall which was enabled. i am working on a page to show you a detail of my modem as i cant find its maker.

I thought the reason for having a router was to cope with the situation of having more machines than the available IP in IPv4, that is why the new version IPv6 is being developed.
And if we start looking at every thing as illegal (hacking), then there is no point of having this forum, don't u think ...

I tried the services provided by http://www.shieldsup.com and found that all of my ports are closed. After that i made two entries in the exceptions part of windows firewall

ya ok my mistake, it was an example. actually my pc has ip 192.168.2.5 and the other one has 192.168.2.2, getting connection from a wireless router which in turn is feeded by an adsl modem having internal ip 192.168.1.1 .
But what i wanted to know is how to connect directly to one of my machines ...
