No Pressure from me

Good for you CableD and Debbie..you are not the only one having problems with RC2
I have installed it on a test mule PC and it is working fine, so if it crashes I can always rebuild or restore my backup. It is NOT installed on my regular PC or laptop.
RC2 and all further iterations will not install ...

The long awaited Windows XP SP2 - RC2 is now available for d/l (be warned it is huge)
Go here to get it. There are specific steps to follow so please read carefully.
Be warned, it is STILL beta so don't blame/flame me if your PC goes up in flames...lol :)

I had to turn off the Permanent IE Blocking. It was keeping me from going to a bunch of legit sites, hometheaterforum, edmunds, just to name 2.

That is strange...I just went to that URL.....
Is it this URL (just to make sure) http://www.hometheaterforum.com/index.php ???????????? :confused ...

Some feedback
- the pop-up blocker in SP2 does work
- update page may not work (don't know why at this point)
- firewall has more choices and seems to work..on an application level.(still doing some testing)
- it is stable
- does not recognize AVG Free (see Shinobi's post on Norton 2003)...you have ...

I did try the "update Page", but it hung and didn't work for me.
Yes, the firewall did detect "Ad Muncher" and asked for permission to let it access the net, as it is supposed to go get an update at boot up.
Also the firewall has LOTS more options to turn on or off...I have not tried any ...

I loaded it on my test XP Pro...working.
It does not recognize AVG-Free as the Antivirus on the PC....had to tell it that it is manual and I will look after it myself.
I will remove AVGFREE and put on AVAST and see if it recognizes that AV.
Firewall is ON, and it d/l a few more updates ...

Go into the AVG folder (it could be named Grisoft), and rename the URL.INI as URLOLD.INI. Copy the following with notepad and save it as URL.INI in the same folder.

[SERVER_NAME]

I also use AVG.
Tried AVAST on my laptop and got "ashserv" error messages on shutdown.
What they said in the forum was to do an update to fix the problem, however, that never did fix my error message, so I went back to AVG.

Go here and d/l CoolWebshredder (you can also read the instructions). After downloading, do an update (the most recent version is 1.47.2) and run it (close ALL other open windows and remove your restore point)
It will remove ALL variants of the COOLWWWShredder ...

I agree with Norm...totally.
I have another suggestion (or thought)...if your Home Page was changed (not by you), it is a possibility that you are infected with CoolWWWSearch or one of its variants.
SpyBot does pick it up and says it removes it but it comes back (for some reason)..... I would go ...

Ok...the heading is a bit misleading, however, read the fine print.
It is available for one yr, then you have to pay.

I was tired of cleaning IE cache so in searching I found this. You can copy it to a text file and into your startup folder and name it 'cleanupxp.cmd as stated below. It does work under XP, but may not work with W2K. If anyone is looking for the W2K version I will try to find it.
