lollerz, probably should. It's really all I have to do though, tech support is pain.

Also, feel lucky, bouncer wanted to turn them all off, I tried to be the voice of reason and say "Plz don't turn them off, just moderate them a bit".

Why should I deny myself looking at pictures for one instance. Everyone else plays by the rules, so why should I turn off my pictures for one or two people who don't want to play by the rules? Just wondering.

add me to the list to. But considering it was changed i'm gonna guess it was what philip wanted as well. We can only give him feedback, he makes the call. He could have very well told us to deal with it. Guess he didn't do that eh?

And screw the job type whining

Now now, keep it civil Noevo :)

He's is just raging against the machine here due to having to change his av. Hell he is kind of right, just today we had a guy goto the hospital due to a floppy disk cut. Those little metal things can fly off at incredible speeds. The plastic surgeon said he will look as good as new once he is done though. You see, he is just touting the hazards.

And there was this one girl in accounting, paper cut that sliced right through her finger to the bone yo. Our envelopes are crazy dangerous. WE LIVE A LIFE IN FEAR! I often fear a nail breaking as well. Sucks

You see, with nails like these, you can never be too careful.

So, he is right. As tech support we live under a blanket of fear. Fear of office supplys.

Yassir, I believe you. This one ol boy from up north, he had a friend that played a prank with a stapler. As it is too gross to go into all the details, lets just say he has to eat with a spoon now, as well as watch tv with just one eye. I still have to talk to my therapist about that day.

This makes me angry.

cybotron r_9, what was the avatar? The last I saw, yours was just a kissing pic. You know, KISSING! The kind of thing that you see on prime time TV. I could understand if it was naked boobs or something(although the tabloids show it), but I've seen nothing wrong with the avs. Avatars are expressions of the individual's personality and represent only that individual. If someone doesn't like it, they have the choice to represent themselves differently.

The one's who are offended by something always seem to get to dominate those who aren't.

It just makes sense, it's not a "offended by" type thing. It's a professionalism type thing. nothing more. Same reason philip doesn't like babe time threads. I was not "offended" by any of the avs, but they make surfing a very tech oriented site at work a little difficult at times. And it makes the site look bad to those who visit for tech advice IMHO.

Kissing is fine, but the provocativeness of the pic also has to be taken into consideration I believe.

you guys are funny that you think philip has no control over what is on here and what isn't. He want's to ban the word microsoft, he can.

Please, save the first amendment cries for somewhere that it applies :)

I am not offended, I surf at work, pictures like that are not allowed. It's a concession that most message boards allow, even Something Awful has a not work safe policy in its General forum. If you need to go see pics of women then go surf porn or something. Here I can help http://www.pickthehottie.com there you go. Also, how is two girls kissing expresses yourself except in the fact that you are a horny internet geek that believes flawless women kissing are the end all be all of your existence. Is that what you stand for? Is that what you need to see on this board in order to be happy? If so, you might be on the wrong board.

Now I never gripe about babe threads, or pictures of women in general, but a few chicks kissing, or in their underware IN EVERY OTHER POST OF A THREAD, is a bit much to take. Post pictures, devote threads to it, don't put the picture in every post you make. Also, if that is what you feel expresses yourself, then you would seem to be a little shallow in that you could think of nothing better to add other then "I leik boobs lol" So take yourself back to some aol chat rooms, and come back when you express yourself with something more then boobs omg lol boobs.

maybe since you are at work and your the party thats not allowed to view images "like that" you should be the one to come up with a solution you can implement Yourself. Are we suppose to run every avatar by people now to make sure their boss or co-workers arent offended?

I did not mention the first amendment, you did. And I assure you I wasn't crying. I did however, point out the truth of the matter, which is that a kissing avatar doesn't represent anything you don't see on TV. Besides, I don't think people come to SG to see a duplication of a sterile repressive office environment. It's just like the argument for suits in an office. It has nothing whatsoever to do with productivity, it's simply someone's arbitrary idea of what they think is "appropriate". Thankfully that kind of arbitrariness is even fading from the workplace, as people are seeing that it is baseless.

Maybe we should just let it all go, lets let babe threads come back, lets go ahead and just start posting naked boobs too, hell, who needs speedguide.net(a tech support site that many people browse from work) and lets just make it a full on porn/scat/hentia site where anything goes. That way, no one will ever be offended and everyone can post what they want. That sounds good.

On a different note, I was not the only one kind of miffed about this trend that av's have taken. Just so you know, but you can put all the blame on me, as I initially spoke up about it. Also, when phil turns off the av's due to this whining about non worksafe ones, I will take the credit there as well. If need be.

Actually, there was a memo passed around about a week or two ago about porn. While I understand this stuff is not porn, it is somewhat close, and would garner closer inspection, and possibly be deemed as porn. So yes, actually they have.
