Trick or Treat??

Post by Suzie »

When the kids come to our door we ask them to do a trick for their treats. Most of them are really good sports. The hubby, dressed up, usually sits out in the chair outfront too and scares the older kids. It's really funny to watch.

You would not believe the creativitiy of some of these kids when they are put on the spot. I usually laugh so hard I get the tears thing happening.

We get tap dancers, gymnists, singers, it's really cute.

What about you? Do you just hand out the candies or do something a little different?

I love halloween, just a big kid at heart. Can't wait, to see all the costumes. Originallity always gets a better treat. :)

It sounds like he will be very cute princess. Can't wait to see the pics. The small ones are always so cute to see all dressed up. I know it's warm where you are but here in Canada it was 3C last night which is about 37 F. I hope it warms up for the little ones to go around tomorrow night.

We usually just hand out the treats. We had our trick or treat day on last Sunday. I've had zero trick or treaters, 3 years in a row now. I didn't even see any on the streets, anywhere around us. That's sad!

We live out in a Township away from City Policing and have to rely on the County Sheriffs office for any type of protection. They hold trick or treat between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the Sunday before the actual holiday, so as to be able to watch the children and those around them, and just keep it as safe as possibly can be expected.
I think it sucks that other people have ruined it in the past for todays children!

Yea that REALLY sucks. I used to go out from 5-11pm; it's not even dark when they go out! :(
Nope, not even dark! When I was small, we had all sorts of fun going out from 7 pm to 11pm and beyond. There were lots of us too. Now, your lucky if you see anyone, much less are priviledged enough to hand out any treats. My wife works at a candy factory and brought home bags of candy to give out, thanks to United Airlines Canceling their order, and we didn't have ANYONE show up! 3 friggin years in a row now.

I'm sorry to hear that blebs99. Your right that sucks.

Even here over the last few years there just aren't as many kids that go around. I don't know why but it is definately not the same as it use to be. We get the kids from the neighbourhood and the kids we know but compared to the 200 to 250 we use to get, I think last year we counted around 50. We use to run out of candy and treats, now we always have lots left. Once the street starts to look empty and the bell rings less, the last kids that come will get more. Otherwise way to much candy left.

:)

At one time, a few years ago, their was a pervert on the loose. His specialty, children. Ever since then, they've held trick or treat night (Or should I say day) as described above.
We've got to many reports of kiddie stalkers in this county. It sometimes seems as though they all migrated here.

I usally just give out candy. I love seeing the kids all dressed up :) Sometimes I'll dress up too. Some of the older kids I make them sing me a song before they get a treat.
To sense the presence of an angel is like feeling the wind all around you. You cannot actually see the wind, but you notice it's movements, and you know that it is there.

That sucks, having one sicko spoil the event for so many kids.

I give em a 20 yard headstart. If they get past the dobermans, I break out the hunting rifle.

You should see how many we have.....

They dont stop comin till around 11PM when they start around 6....it sucks, we usually run out (2 huge boxes of chips, 10 diff bags of candy)...so after that, the light is on but no door opens...thats when I jump out of bush and scare em.
