We recently started having an issue with high utilization at certain times of day. We have remote users that come in from time to time and I suspect someone is doing things they shouldn't be. Up to this point we have only used bandwidth monitor tools that show graphs of usage by the hour, day and week. I'd like to get more detailed and track it down to device or IP address.
Can I see some suggestions or recomendations for paid and open source solutions to accomplish this?
Thanks

I prefer to do this from the edge device, the router. What make/model do you have?
For many of our clients we use a UTM appliance that runs Untangle. Untangle has the option of a bandwidth monitor which produces very detailed reports.
There are many open source *nix based distros which have free options for this.
Even some free 3rd party firmware for more common home grade routers, but IMO those have no place running a business network.
