Need to buy a new router in which wifi can be turned off and on

Post by neo960 »

I mainly use a desktop PC with wired networking only, and occasionally would like to use my android phone or laptop using wifi connection.

So I would like to be able to keep the wi-fi turned off while the wired networking is turned on most of the time.

Can YOSC or anyone here recommend a good router?

Cisco e4200
If on a budget, you can find factory refurb'd e3000 models at newegg....it's the predecessor model...very strong performer. I run one at home with Tomato firmware.

Thanks YOSC. I am looking at the 3200 refurbished at around $55. Will these work OK without having to change the firmware to tomato?

Will I be able to switch the wifi access on/off without affecting the wired connections with the default cisco firmware?

I recall the stock firmware having a disabled switch on the radio.
