PS3 and windows server 2003

Post by BOWTYE8 »

I am trying to stream pics, music and movies from my webserver(win 2003)

From reading. WM11 is the easiest to share the files from the server but server 2003 will only load media player 10.

So looking into other option.

Seems I need a type of networking discovery which is in (systems mang. server)

Did win server 03 come with this program? I see a bunch of hot fix's and service packs for it but not the actual program on the ms site.

Thanks

Windows 2003 Standard and above has Windows Media Streaming Service.
Check this out here.. May be worth learning at any rate because it's a part of Windows 2003 / 2008.

Also, for Video and audio.. VLC is a open source program that can stream also: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html That may be useful if you want to stream from say Linux or maybe Windows xp or other Windows Workstation. :thumb:

Arghh...I only installed web edition for server 2003. Media services are for standard and higher.

Should be rebuilding my pc soon and my current main rig will be the new server so may reinstall server 2003 as standard instead of web edition.
