Wireless Traffic Control

Post by wildleopard »

Hi people!

I'm just new to this place and the following burning issue has led me to join:

Now, I have a desktop computer with NO wireless capabilities. However, I have a wireless router/modem connected to my computer via ethernet so I can access the Internet.

There are 2 other laptops in the house who access the Internet via my wireless modem. However, I have a limited download limit and I want a way to find out how much data each of the 2 wireless users is using or downloading. Even better, I would like to limit their bandwidth or speed if they are downloading too much.

I have tried various software but none of them can help me out at all. My modem is a Thomson Speedtouch wireless router.

I'm sure some of you might have a similiar setup as mine, so can you please help me out by suggesting something which might help me what I am trying to achieve.

Thanks a lot.

netmeter is free and will show traffic passed but wont show based on lan or wan.

So if laptop 1 transfers 1gb to laptop 2 .. it will show 1gb transfered but you wont know if it was local or over the internet.
