Check any software firewalls on the "game host" PC...make sure any ports needed by this game server component are allowed through. When the "game client" searches for this game..are you selecting "LAN" or "Internet"? Should be "LAN".

thank you for the reply YeOldeStonecat, im using LAN when i connect it, actually im playing Diablo 2, i want to play it with my brother, before i manage to connect the 2 PC's just by turning off the cable modem internet connection, im using a router to connect my 2 PC's to the cable modem..last week when i tried to connect the 2 PC's to play Diablo the other PC says "it cannot find the server" it does matter which PC i use as a host server still getting the same error/note...but when i tried to look m=to my network connections the 2 PC's can see each other,,is there a limit to how long the cable(RJ45 wire) must be use in order to connect? im thinking i might using a too long wire, but before i use this very same wire to play Cossacks, and i dont have some problems..but now i cant get it work, i tried doing what i did before, turning off the cable modem and even bought a 5port hub, still cant get it work...

You may need to forward ports on the router for the 2 to connect. I remember having a similar problem with D2 as well, ended up both going on battlenet. lol

in control panel firewall advanced check the first two boxeses for the tcmp taffic to be allowed though. There is a few games with out the imcp traffic blcked it won't let you connect to the online games ,so it could work the same in lan.

Also make sure you allowed unpnp forwarding on both machinces in control panel firewall ,and that is enabled on the router as well.

Can you help me with a home networking problem?

OK, is the router connected to a broadband internet connection that's being shared by both PC's? If so, then make sure the wireless PC can get out to the internet. That's the first priority, because if that works, then we know the PC is connecting wirelessly to the router just fine.

Also, make a note of its IP address. It should be in the 192.168.x.x range.
