Winehouse at it again..

Post by Sava700 »

I think we should give her another Grammy for being such a great role model!
Amy Winehouse has been arrested on suspicion of drugs possession, police and her spokesman said Wednesday.

Humm.....

Grammy for her musicianship is totally different than her role as the cover for the newstand gosssip magazines. Not dishing on the story..but in the fact that all these entertainers, ruining their lives is plan silly to keep reading about.

There are a lot more important things in the world going on that letting an 8 year old know her idol is a junkie.

 Like the current drums of war currently beating over Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Israel.... among other things. But hey this is a great distraction for those easily distracted on worldly events.

The issue here is she won a award for her music but being a "role model" in the music industry makes it look as if she was enhanced for the skills by the drug use which is wrong.... doing drugs and being caught in the open like this not once but twice at least thats advertised on news sites shouldn't be allowed to win a award like that regardless if she sang the best damn song EVER known to man kind... its just not right. Gives younger kids those that aspire to do music to do drugs to get that good.. its bs and someone should take her grammy.

No she didn't. She won because of the music. Not ONE of her Grammys was for behavior. I just looked it up.

Ok......if that's the case, then why haven't say...."you" won it? I mean come on now. We're talking cold beans logic, right?

No it's always been "kinda" about the music. Not the role model.

I would say the issue here is your perception on why you think she won her grammy awards.

I don't see anyone arguing about the rolling stones not deserving their awards.

Don't feel too bad for her, she chose to do those drugs, nobody held a gun to her head and said "smoke this". It was a personal choice.

I have had some time to ruminate on this and kinda-sorta retract my previous statement.

It's Sava's OPINION that Winehouse is undeserving and that is acceptable, albeit idiotic. Since my opinion does not have any more bearing on the matter, Sava's opinion should stand and be respected as much as anyone's.

she won the grammy for her Music..but she did due to that talent thus she is now a role model for others mostly younger adults that aspire to be that talented...now you give the impression she got that way due to drug use and thats not the impression people need therefore her Grammy IMO is null and void...others may have done something along these lines but she's mainstream news now and therefore making it even worse on her part.

It is my opinion that the Boston Red Sox should forfeit their World Series rings because Varitek has a history of jaywalking.

So we sonly only nominate musicians that haven't been outed in mainstream news? That sets a great example for younger people as well.

I would say more than half of celebrities make poor role models, doesn't matter though, and I doubt kids watch the grammy awards going "OMG I can't wait to see who my new potential role models are gonna be!"

The press may make her, and use her faults to do so, but it doesn't, and wont hide hers or anyone else's falls from the top either. Maybe in the end she will make a decent role model by the end of her career, people can look back at it and go wow, she really ****ed up a great thing, I wouldn't want to do that if I ever get her shot.

When Back To Black came out, I listened to it quite a bit.. she's got an amazing voice. I thought she was great - so different than the usual cookie cutter singers we're presented with. But now... I don't know, I guess my sympathy well is drying up, but when I see news of her latest arrest/ video of her doing drugs, I just get irritated. I know it's not easy to quit drugs, and being a 'celeb' doesnt' necessarily make it easier, but when I look at her I can't help seeing someone who was blessed with an amazing voice and a unique talent, who's just pissing it all away and doesn't give a damn. And if she doesn't give a damn, why should I?

What? Are you serious?? Your saying your the know it of all things and the best of the best? Has to be when I only posted saying the comment was border lined ignorant..not brembo. You sit at home all day long doing nothing but surfing these forums for some sort of "save the grammer" cause and its getting old.
If you wish to base your opinion on my intelligence and comprehension on a internet forum then by God you must be the better person for it and everyone that has any sort of disagreement with you should just stop now and never post again... WOW! Sure glad we got that out of the way.

Why on earth would anyone defend a drug addict like Amy winehouse for anything is beyond me which is where this whole thread started but sure as hell got derailed quick since it went straight to discredit anything I post here as usual. I can see how well it got controlled to.

Winehouse didn't win a grammy because she is a role model. It was due to her talent. That said her talent and the fact she is a public figure by default makes her a role model. Her behavior is pretty disgusting and she needs help to fix her problems.

You're ...You + Are = You're and it's Earth.

...and no one is defending Winehouse .....they're simply correcting your misinformation ...she didn't win a Grammy for being a role model...she won it for her talent. Once again you've demonstrated that you're unfit to use a keyboard.

I never said she won the grammy for that reason... but now for being a drug addict and to keep kids from looking up to her as to the cause of her making those songs or writing the music which may have come from drug use, she should have the award stripped..that goes for any others that get caught like this and make mainstream news headlines...cause most likely someone that just hit the pipe once or twice in life isn't going to get busted on video like she did.

As a public figure she is put in the position of being a role model. How many actually choose her to be one is up for debate, but undoubtedly she is a role model. Public action does influence individuals. That's been shown for a long time. That said common sense naturally factors into that as well that a person shouldn't jump off a bridge just because their role model does.
