Fred Thompson Confirms Bid for GOP Nomination

Post by downhill »

Actor and former senator Fred D. Thompson confirmed yesterday that he is running for president, ending a political flirtation he has been conducting since March and thrusting himself into the thick of the battle for the Republican nomination.

Kinda late but I do think he has a fairly large base. After all, "some" people like the way he acts....

I wonder if his ties to the Nixon scandals will hurt him any?

I've been watching him for a while. He'll get my vote.

From the Republican side, I would have loved to have seen Warner put his hat in the ring.

I doubt it. Most people are going to know him from "The Hunt for Red October" or "Law And Order." If I'm not mistaken, he was the person who replaced Al Gore as Senator from Tennessee when Clinton/Gore came into office...

The most knowledgable pundunt on political matters to have every graced the pages of Speedguide, Mr. Ghosthunter, would vote for him over Rudy, based on the characters that Thompson has played.

I do find it odd though, that he supports both Rudy and Thompson, being that they are almost at political ends of the Republican spectrum.

What say you, GH?
