Some old Lan Party videos

Post by thechemgeek »

When I lived in central PA I put together a couple videos for our Lan Party group, FITHLan. I've moved on....started a new group where I am now....but wanted to share them. These were done in 2002-2004. Read the descriptions on the YouTube page.

we had many a lan party at this location, so it's not like this was the first one, so we were some experienced folkes. well, i believe someone grabbed the nearest extension cord, plugged it into the nearest outlet and it was shared amongst several systems. basically, it pulled too much power and being rolled up caused it to build up heat...lots of heat...to the point where the plastic melted. what was odd was that we never lost power or saw a flicker. it wasn't until the smell got so bad that anyone did anything and when we turned on the lights it was very apparent what had happened.

oh well. safety tip for you lan party people. also, have ONE power guy and restrict all people to talking to him/her before plugging in anywhere. heh.
