North Korea, Launch or No? Opinions Please

What do you guys think, will North Korea launch this missle or not? If they do launch what do you think would happen?

Of course lil Kimmy is gonna launch it. You don't fuel a ballisitic missile unless you're gonna and he's nuts enough to do it ....which then will give us all the reason we'd need to go after them. Rice has almost said as much in the news already.

He's crazy......but not crazy enough to launch. The retaliation from multiple countries is enough for him to pose all he wants, but not actually go through with it.

Yeah if a war is started with NK we may as well kiss Hawaii good bye and perhaps some citys on the west coast.. it wouldn't take much to send a short range missle from a ship they might hide as a sailing vessle..or sneak a very large bomb into the US... We are and have been on our way to WWIII for some time now the economy has been hurting bad for the last 20years so its time for a war to heat it up.

If he launches it will be into the atmosphere straight up and probably with China's permission if it goes over their territory.

I dunno Pie ...they tested a missile a while ago they sailed right over Japan....They might have a short/medium ranged ballistic missile ...but no long range ICBM that's for sure.

North Korea last tested a long-range missile in 1998, when it fired a Taepodong-1 missile, with a range of 2,000km (1,200 miles) over northern Japan.

The Taepodong-2 is believed to have a range of up to 6,000km (3,700 miles).

I remember reading about that. Theres also a website out there that claims a NK Missile warhead even landed in Alaska but I think its bogus.
The only real way we can stop all this madness is everyone has to disarm and I doubt very much with all the new ordinance we have been developing thats going to happen anytime soon. I can't see how we can attempt to stop people from doing what we have done and continue to do. Maybe for a while people feared us, but I think with this latest mistake that is Iraq we have shown countries a weakness that we are not as stable as we once were. Obviously our once accurate intelligence is not so intelligent and the corruption thats been uncovered in our government is definitely not appealing to other nations and as a result they are becoming a bit leery of us. Just look at how many countries we have threatened, attacked and alienated since this administration has taken power. People will still blame Clinton though.

I don't get the Rice threat. If they do, we aren't going to invade them. China could possibly get involved in any military dispute with them. That's not good.

Most of you are aware that this doesn't have a warhead, right? It's a test. Agreed that this makes all it's neighbors, nervous, including us.

I think that Kim is looking for a bit of blackmail. "What will you do for my country if I don't launch" type of thing. It's nothing new with him.

The response is simple really.

For every missle he test fires in our direction. Test fire six in his. Make a big show. Land based launches, sub launches, air launches. Make a point that he is so overwhelmingly outgunned that it would be pointless to even try. Mix it up with some patriot battery tests and then deploy a couple dozen batteries in SK and Japan.

He's a loon, to be sure, but like all dictators, he understands absolute threat.

I like this idea; of course, it would be great if we could fire our six missiles AFTER we shoot his missle down before it even makes it to Japan.
