I'm pretty sure Open Office will take care of that for you

Just checked it, no trouble.
Open doc in Open Office and export as PDF, works with Excel also
No nags completely free

Relatively "nag-free" as far as freeware goes, the latter one puts on it's one watermark at the end.

They install as printer subsystems..so take your MS Word Doc...go to print it..and select the PDF printer these programs make.
