XBOX Router

Post by tr87526 »

My son wants to play XBOX over the internet. From what I can gather, the setup we want will take a router. This will be new to me. Any suggestions on a brand/model?

We have a cable connection.

Thanks

The kids XBox has played fine behind many different routers I've had at home, really just needs DHCP which just about all home market routers can provide.

A great home router that's very compatible, and my favorite in the "home under 100 dollar router" class....Linksys BEFSX41

I use the D-Link 604 to connect my Xbox and PC, its pretty inexpensive and simple to set up, It practically works right out of the box without adjusting any of the configuration. Check the compatibility list for routers on xbox.com before selecting one though.
Specs:
Windows XP Pro

Leadtek 6800/all pipes and shaders unlocked
Audigy LS w/Creative 5400

just be sure the router you get is Xbox Live compatible. Three is a short list at xboxlive.com . theres certain routers taht just wont respond to the Live service (my old Netgear was one of em), most Linksys and D-Link are compatible, jsut check to be sure befcore you dish out the cash.

This is the list of routers that have been tested and are guarenteed 100% compatible with Xbox Live (Online Xbox Service):

However most routers will work, mine wasnt on the list and it worked just fine.

Im sure he'll love it, I just started Xbox Live on a free trial and love it :thumb:
