Help, massive system failure!

Post by the_mp3_refuge »

System Specs
XP Home
2.4Ghz P4 Northwood
Gigabyte 8IEXP Mobo
Ati Radeon 8500
Hercules Fortisimo II
80GB WDSE
40GB Maxtor
Pioneer 16x10x40 CD-RW
LiteOn 4x DVD-RW

Ok here's the time table

Downloaded a song from itunes
Itunes freezes and comp lock up
Upon restart no IDE drives detected
After cold boot the WD HD and DVD-RW are seen
Third restart, all IDE Drives detected, windows proceeds to load normally
System hangs after the splash screen. 5 mins later windows opens and is running
40GB Maxtor HD is not avaliable nor is the CD-RW
System restarted, only 80GB WD HD is dectected
Enter BIOS, comp hangs, then proceeds, eveything is ok, shut down
I change the IDE channels on the drives
Cold boot, all video is garbled
Mobo Speaker makes 2 very loud, not normal sounding squeeks.
Enter BIOS, video is clean, then after selecting another option, screen is unreadable
Speaker squeeks again in the same mannor.
Restart
Goes through boot up fine untill it begins to load windows "System Disk Invalid"
Shut Down

Any ideas as to what might be causing this? It was running fine this morning and last night. No signs of trouble whatsoever.

Thanks for your input.

Are you overclocking? Does this only happen when you use iTune? Try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

That IDE issue is wierd.... it's possible that your mobo is going... I was thinking the mobo battery but if it's battery you should notice there's something wrong with the system clock...

Hmmm...
