verizon cell reception

Post by greekgodess »

Does anyone have any problems with their verizon service. In our house we can not get a strong signals and always lose calls..... Do you think upgrading the phone would help the signal???

Basically it boils down to this. All cell phones and companies suck. They all have reception holes, and they all lose calls and break up. Everyone expects them to always work good, its just not possible given the technology. I love my Nextel, but the damn thing loses signal and breaks up all the time. Its not the phone, its the range of the towers. I hope that other companies will start rolling out the two-way radio feature soon, I heard somewhere that next year some contract will be up and other companies will be allowed to use this, not just Nextel. Could just be a rumor though.

I use Verizon on a LG VX4400 and never had a reception problem or dropped call.

Ive had it since April too, and neither have my parents nor sister lost a call or have bad reception.

I know friends on Cingular that never have service when I do, nor do the Sprint or ATT users. Verizon is the best around here, IMO.

Try pulling out the battery, wait a minute and put it back in.

Also, you will have to update the programming by using *18.

Any questions, call customer service.

I had that same prob. I don't anymore.

***edit***
I was told by verizon that I should do a program update once every 6-8 weeks.

Have you ever dropped your phone? You may have loose connections that would have to be repaired (if it is a constant problem) Is the phone still under warranty?

Well when kitten and I took a trip to Utah our phones ( verison) worked great but everyone else with a different carrier were shiit out of luck if they had to use their service.

I live on the VA/NC border and have Cingular. It works fairly well in the small town I live in, but if I try to drive away from it out towards the rural areas my connection just drops like a rock.

My g/f has used her Verizon phone down here and is able to get fairly decent connections where I'm not even able to connect.

Although my service isn't really supposed to work in this area due to no Cingular Towers close by. I think Suncom has towers in this area. The larger cell service in the area is Altell, I'm not sure if anyone has heard of that before. Personally I am happy with Cingular, with the exception of a few bills when I first moved to this part of Va.

Basically what it boils down to is that there just aren't enough towers around to cover the rural areas. The towers that are out there aren't good enough to bypass the terrain. Something that also bothers me is that you have to pay in order to access other towers, which is a joke. I realize each company owns their towers and each uses certain technology for their own towers. My complaint is that they are so freak'n greedy that they can't get together and just make one large network for the phones to work on then just fight over who is going to get the customers. We as consumers would be in a better position if they did this. (assuming each company didn't bicker about who was going to fix a tower if it failed)

My home seems to be a black hole of sorts for cell phone reception, but a walk halfway down the block gives me near perfect reception. For the most part though, I've had few problems with reception.

My house is the same way, I have both sprint and nextel, my dad (who stayed with us when he first moved back to Indiana from Mass) has verizon and all 3 of them are near useless in my house, down the block though everything is peachy keen on all 3 services.

As do I, the southern edge, whereas Indy lives on the northeastern corner.

The only time I've ever had problems with my AT&T phone not having signal. Was when I was out in Tortilla Flat, Arizona population 6. :rotfl: It's over in the mountains so not totally surprising there.
Respect it.
