One day my Telus ADSL went out and when I came back to check it I noticed the modem lights all steady/flashing fine but no internet connection. Phone telus too see what the problem was and we tried to get it set-up again. Re-registered my Linksys BEFSR41 mac-address back into the system and I tried to access my 192.168.1.1 control panel. No can do. So now i'm stuck with using the switch and I only got 2 computers out of 4 in the house with a IP.
What do you guys think the problem could be? Telus ****ing me over or could my wan port be shot?
Regardless if the WAN port is gone or not you still can access the web interface of the router. Plug it into any port and as long DHCP is running on the router it should assign your pc you plug into it a IP. If DHCP isn't running you need to statically assign your PC an IP using the schema of the router... i.e. IP of 192.168.1.whatever.
Try plugging it into one of the PC off the DSL connection, power cycle the router, plug it in, connect your RJ45 from the PC to the router, boot up the PC, try to access the web interface. If you can't check your IP and see if your getting one from the router or if windows is assigning you a auto config IP.
