Putting Lan System together (parts pics)

Post by Brent »

Got all my parts finally today for my lan system yay

All the parts I needed, finally here:

Image

120GB ATA/133 7200RPM 8MB Cache HDD, this will be my primary hard drive in the system.

Image

P4 2.4C 800Mhz FSB, I'll oc this to 3Ghz @ 1Ghz FSB that will be a nice overclock that should also be very stable for intense lan sessions.

Image

Epox i875p mobo, check out all those IDE ports. It has 2 on board Intel ports, then 4 on board highpoint 374 raid ports, and then 2 SATA ports. That is a total of 12 EIDE drives and 2 SATA drives :D

This is the case its going in

This is what is in the case right now, gotta take it out and put this stuff in. I'll also use a couple of those hdd's in there right now as well, have a total of 240GB of HDD space.

Dust that case, man!!!

Also, isn't the PSU supposed to go in the opposite way, so that the bottom fan draws air up through the PSU and out of the rear of the case?

in a typical system where the psu is atop the cpu, that is so

however, in my lian li case the cutout is positioned so that the ps fits in that way

and actually it makes sense, because if it was turned around the fan would be trying to pull air from the cpu out the psu, but the hsf on the cpu would be trying to pull air down onto the cpu, therefore you would have a negative zone there of no air moving

so i am glad it is positioned that way

what i would do to make some modifications is to cut a hole in the side panel for the psu fan to pull in outside air to cool itself, so it won't overheat

and then i would cut a hole in the top over the cpu blowing down onto the cpu so it could draw in outside air as well

someday i'll make the modifications

and yes, i need to wipe the case clean which I plan to do once i take all the stuff that is in there now out

Hey Brent

I was just wondering why you chose the Maxtor 120GB Diamond Max Plus9 7200RPM 8MB ATA133 HDD over the Western Digital Special Edition 120GB 7200RPM 8MB ATA100 HDD ?
