Powering on other pcs on network??

I know this will either sound stupid or like amateur hour but I have a question regarding WOL. Is there anyway I can use this feature to remotely power on my computer in one of the other rooms from my main pc whenever I want. I just have a small network at my house with 3 rigs on cable/dsl router/switch. Sometimes I need files off another pc in the house and I would like to power it up whenevr I want to get them and shut it off when Im done with it. Is there an app perhaps that will let me take advantage of the WOL feature to do this? Thanks for any help.....as you can tell Im not so network savvy....
