freezing and stuttering from grafics card

I been playing raven shield online for awhile now. I started off playing with a geforce2 ultra snd windows me everything was ok till i upgraded to a geforce t1 4200 128 and windows xp. my problem is when i play sometimes i get frame drops like 60fps to 1fps then its start to stutter and pause and i die its very annoying.
Ive tried diffrent drivers from nvidea and asus. tried putting on and taking off fast writes,sba and 4agp. I tweaked the heck out of xp it runs pretty good i have nothing running in background. i have my p4 1.6 @ 2.2 temp is around 40 it runs very stable. my video card is not overclocked. have 512 megs of ram.also i tried compatibility mode 98/me and without ...what can do?

How much RAM is in your system?

Do you shut down/disable apps in the background when you're playing...such as anti-virus real time file protection, messengers, etc.

How clean is your system from spy/ad-ware?

512, i have nothing running in background and use spybot. same problem

ok card is made by asus i intalled utliltiy it came with called smart doctor. u can overclock with it. default sppeds are 252/512. smart doctor lowers default to 220/512 why is it overheating on default.can highering voltage on mobo for cpu effect agp?
