help with directx 9

for some odd reason i cant download directx 9. ever time i go to microsoft site and download dx9 i run then i get this weird message it say Directx did not copy a required file then installation stops. im running windows me

Download the DirectX 9 Redist version instead.

this is a stab ion the dark but try removing the old directx and vid drivers then reinstall vid drivers and new directx....

i know its not a lot of help but its the only thing i can think of

I'm still having trouble installing the damn thing!

After setup extract files, just before it begins to copy it says "DirectX did not copy a required file" in a messagebox and then when you click OK to that it says "Installation Failed"... does this everytime - on both websetup and the full 30mb pack..... and whats worse... i try to reintall DX 8.1 and now i get the same error doing that! taken from http://www.neowin.net/comments.php?id=8048

What OS are other people having this prob using?

Do you have system restore on?
