Package loss problem with cable

Post by luislmf »

I have windows XP and 1024 of RAM on a 2400 Pentium.
It worked all well, but on last 2 months I have package loss from 09PM untill midnight everyday.

I am not interested on improoving my navigation speed with Internet Explorer, I just would like to solve this package loss problem so I can play a multiplayer game (everquest)

I know that my ISP should be causing the problem (http://www.netcabo.pt) but , as they are taking so long to solve it and they have lowsy costumer services I thought I could find some help in this forum in order to minimize this problem.

I tried the cablenut tweeks with the default "fast" setting but I am not sure if I did it right.

Also, when I trie to restore my register it says it cant because some files are in use.

I tried to restore it from within cablenut software and from regedit.

If you have any sugestions can I do those changes using the cablenut?

Here are the TCP/ip analyser results:

My ISP downstream is 640Kbps max.

TCP properties for IP = 213.22.192.70 ()
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 120 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Thx in advance for any help
