My goldfish is dying.....

Post by cy »

I bought 3 goldfish back on saturday afternoon....everything goes fine except one little cutie one doesn't want to eat at all, no matter what i feed....

It's now 90% dead now, floating around but breathing. Honestly i want it to be dead now instead of just floating around looking at me....

watch theyre movements and reactions before you get them first....sluggish movements are a sign of disease...also watch for them staying in one spot a lot. goldfish should move all around the tank, not just stay at the bottom or top.

goldfish are hardy fish but when they get sick, they get SICK. sounds like the first one had bloat or dropsy. but try calling the pet store, or find an ALL fish shop, if one is looking sick they might be able to help.

Ive been keeping fish for 4 years now, and though my fish arent as plain as goldfish (no offense, but I have a thing for really exotic fish, and theyre freshwater too) but Ive dealt with my share of disease. from ich to dropsy to bloat, popeye, Ive probably dealth with it all.

so hows the other one looking now?

How did you keep the cat fish from eating the goldfish? my grandma had a simular population in her tank, but eventually the cat fish got mean and feated on everyone else in the tank...

The other one looks better now, moving around more.

Thanks Sean for your points. Back in around 4 years ago in Hong Kong, i used to keep goldfishes and different kinds of fish, but eventually when I came to Canada i had to give them away. :(

Mutch, they are not 5 cents each...
These small ones that i bought was $5.99, some nicer ones can get to $14.99 for a little one. And of course i saw some big one at the store....$129.99!!!

Not everything is about money. Just because it might not be something you cannot hold, pet and hug does not meant you cannot get attached to it.

btw, i got for my daughter something called beta goldfish and they seem to last much longer.

Well said!

Well, I think it was something to do with the change of environment from the tank at the store to the tank at my house and also it was small and didn't want to eat. :(
