I put "babe next to me" as a joke, but I'm serious. I'm trying to think of a new and unusual business. Part-time or maybe full-time if it works out.
Let me explain............
I ride in different elevators, in different buildings all day. You can tell by the people in there, how much money they make, what kind of clothes they wear, you get a good idea of thier demographics.
I also noticed most of the time, people stare at the door or at thier feet, rarely does anybody make eye contact.
What if........
I rented or leased the inside of the elevators doors from the building owners, then I made little mini billboards and sold the advertising space?
It's pretty much a captive audience, I have a good idea of who and why they are going into that building.
Hotel elevators could advertise rental cars or local attractions, office buildings could advertise office supplies, computer networking
or dating services for the workaholics.
I think if it was done with class, it could be pulled off.

Inventive!
Can I invest in your IPO????
Hey RoundEye.
Nice idea.
Why don't you approach the lease managers at one building of your choice and see id you can test the possibilities.
Only one problem. They may just grab your idea and run with it themselves.
Potential is there though. You would have to wrap them up legally to a contract along with your advertising clients.
Good luck with it, if you do anything.

Well I talked to a few people here today to get a feel for things, surprisingly, everybody liked the idea.
I'm trying to find a guy I used to work with, he went to work for his father in-laws elevator company, one of the larger ones here in New Orleans. He could probably tell me about all the rules and regulations.
Here's a twist that might happen, instead of selling ads, I might try and support local artist, and people would sponsor them.
The art would cover the door, with a small "sponsored by" ad at the bottom.
One lady I talked to informed me that Louisiana has many local art support programs. She said it hard to "break into it", but once you are in they provide much help to businesses, that support local artist.

So do y'all really think this is something I should explore? Out of all the wacky ideas I've had, I MIGHT be able to pull this one off. It would be cool to help local artist and make a profit too. The lady artist that I talked to today said she would be "more then willing to help". She already has a little pull around here, she sells quite a few paintings and has had her art displayed at Starbucks and a few other places.

The art thing is a good idea. I rather stare at art rather than metal. Only thing to consider is how to keep it from getting messed up/stolen. Of course, I doubt you would put up originals.
That's one of the things I'm looking into, a way to stick it to the door, that's easy to remove, but not too east to remove.
I want it to stick, but not be easy enough to steal. Most of this will most probably be done in office buildings, where theft should be at a minimum.
The artist would still have the original, that way they can sell it for the price that they think is fair.
Gotta make more calls.
