Help with windows update?

Been checken like 1s a week and havnt not had any updates in like 3months think thats odd but thought cuz of SP1

so i go to get it to day(Sp1) and it scans my pc and says that im up to date

So i think it has lost its mind or mabye i have some kind of prop cuz i cant get norton Anti virus to update


Any ideas or help would be great :)

i just did 4 updates saturday, not sure of the last time i did them before that.

I was just there today, I had already applied Sp1. I don't know if you would call it an update but it listed Windoze media player 9 for download. There were a few last week too before I applied Sp1. I think you may have a problem. Norton auto updates will eventually stop if you don't pay to update your license. You should still be able to get the def file from there site and update manually.

Nah still got till next may with norton mabye i tured a serves off for windows update or somethin dunno

Installed xp sp1 and still no update and see how windows is grayed out

Man this is driven me crazy tryed every thing and still cant update next step is a reformat mabye when i get my new hard drive next week

I don't see how it could stop updates, but you could look at the settings in the Automatic updates in control panel. Grasping at straws now. Having to reformat sucks, but sometimes it's the only way.

Does Microsoft require that you be logged in to the MSN network to receive updates? Just a quess. :)

disable the xp firewall
and in your (internet options)goto connections tab
then at the bottom of that window go into lan settings tab
make sure there are no checks in there

try windows update again

Yea iv tryed bout every thing i could think of gonna need to reistall my OS on my new HD any way so as when it gets here gonna try a reformate just orderd a Western D 80 gig SE for
Newegg :)
