10 secs Boot Time

Post by Unholy »

For some reason it takes 10 secs to get from pressing power botton to first screen. It is a M599lmr with award bios chip. I just replace the bios chip with a new one cause it frieded the old one was a 1mb and the new one is a 2mb, can this be the problem? I tried chaching the bios and all.

Apparently there is some sort of hang b/f it posts. That new chip is causing the hang without a doubt. Is the chip supposed to be completely compatible? Have you flashed it to the same BIOS you were using previously? Can you get an exact copy of your old chip instead of this 2mb one. There's not really a point to having a bigger BIOS size, at least right now.

No I can't get a exact copy since these boards were not that popular, I guess I'll just reflash it with a newer bios any tips on how to recover the bios if I fail?
