Where to buy custom computers?
Custom Computers
Usually you just buy all the parts you want and assemble the computer yourself or hire somebody to do it for you. Try Fry's Electronics in WislonVille Oregon, complete computers and parts are cheap there.
Buy a custom PC from who ever you want. Here's what I built for a friend a month ago. Not the best, definitely not the worst:
ECS K7S5A SiS735 Socket A ATX w/ Audio $54
AMD Athlon XP 1900+ 1.6GHz Socket A CPU (Retail) $139
Kingston 512MB DDR266 PC2100 CL2.5 Unbuffered DIMM $94.75
Chaintech GeForce4 Ti4200 Special Edition 128MB DDR AGP w/ Video-In & TV-Out $185
Antec SX1040 SOHO File Server w/ 400W PSU $133.95
Sony 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Beige (Drive Only) $10.95
Sony 16X Internal DVD-ROM Drive ATAPI (Drive Only) $43
Plextor PlexWriter 40x12x40 Internal CD-RW Drive ATAPI (Retail) $135
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus D740X 80GB 7200RPM ATA/133 HDD (Drive Only) $100
Total: $895.65
That was all without a monitor, but that's even more subjective than the previous listing is. Try and get all that with a Dell [EDIT] or any other custom builder [/EDIT] for the same cost.

I've seen an aweful lot of custom built computers, and what I want to caution you on...is your metioning "cheap".....don't go for the cheapest one out there.....you'll be sorry.
While I'm all for building your own computer....it's just not right for some people, so I want to encourage others who will reply not to flame someone for not building their own. Some people just want to buy a high performance gaming rig that will work without headaches, and have good support behind it when it breaks.....
So I want to encourage you to shop wisely. There are many companies out there who built, by hand, very well made, high performance gaming computers. But what's also important, is you find that place that has great support behind their product...who can help you if any problems occur (and lets face it, with computers, they will occur). Buying from some fly by night place on the 'net with great prices, something goes wrong, you try to get support..and either their out of business, or the support is a nighmare....so stick with known good reputable places. Ive been in the computer hardware field for many years, and can, based on experience, recommend the following:
http://www.falcon-nw.com/
One of the older names in high end custom built computers....and because of that, a bit expensive, but worth it.
http://www.alienware.com/main/main.asp?
Another long time builder...usually more affordable than Falcon, still as good in my opinion.
http://www.voodoopc.com/systems/
A newer one in the custom built arena...more affordable, and incredibly anal about detail....the insides of their computers belong in museums because of perfection in detail.

I buy most of my hardware from them, and have seen some of their custom rigs...very nice.

falcon northwest and alienware are total ripoffs..dont even think about it...i could build a system that would wipe the falcon and alienwares off this planet for half the price they charge.

besure to research parts for your pc first, also I think building your own is much better.
