More than likely they are still there, but your going to need some special software to get them.

What os are you using? XP? You could try System Restore?
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

Well, on the bright side of things, think of all the space you'll have back now :)

Brb, I just saw a recovery utility earlier today...

That's what you get for making jokes about headless bunnies! :p

Seriously though, that REALLY REALLY sucks! I wish I had some intelligent advice to offer you. Please keep us posted on your recovery efforts.

Best of Luck!

I had the same thing happen to me too when I installed one of my drives. I only lost 4 gigs of mp3s, but I lost every single piece of data I ever wanted or needed. But you'll be supprised how it gets back to you some how, and how quickly it does.

Good luck with your restoration, and Humboldt has a good point...

What ya gonna do with all that free space?

Well, good luck, PC's are nothing more then headaches at times, but where would we be without all that pron :D

Dang Hybrid, i feel for you bro. Same thing happend to me. Lost over 18 gigs of music and videos when my hd crashed , and the bad part was there was no way of recovering it ! It just poofed! Now what i do is burn my favorite tunes, load my 100+ cd player and delete the rest. Even tho it hurts deleting the nice tunes i like but i don't wanna waste a cd burning em.

Good luck on your recovery process.

Man...I feel sorry for you so much. I don't care whatever I lost but not my mp3 collection man. It takes a couple of years to get all my 30+ plus gigs of my all time favorites so I hope you will get all yours back or some of it. The rule is back up back up back up on CD. Divide your music into collections that each collection can fit on a cd and so when a collection is full then you burn it on a cd and then put it a side. I probably would break my computer if I lose all my mp3 like that...hehhe. Welll man...we wish you luck and I will try to see if I could find somtin to help you out. Keep us posted with your progress. For now...I don't know if you should keep installing recovery program into your current drive it might make the recovery even harder so that's my guess, but I sure hope you will get most of your mp3 back. Good luck.

for a future tip, if you are going to keep that many files on a harddrive at least put them on a partitioned drive.. I know your not looking for advice, but I'm giving you a tip here, that can save your files..
Put them on a seperate Hard Drive or a different Partition on your current Harddrive.. and you must defrag at least once a month to keep them files from going corrupt.

Enjoy the space you have, because music only gets better you can have more music if you tried.

Now hopefully you got a file listing of those files on paper. Otherwise if you want them back you gonna have to use that good memory you have.. I need not say more..
Load the shotgun, rack the shell, and aim at computer... only if you want to.

Man I know what its like to lose a shipt load of Data, and only to find out I could have done this and could have done that to avoid it and/or prepare myself for it.

anyways I should just shutup now.
get it up, get it in, get it out, and don't mess up my hair!

I had them on a seperate drive. It was running one of the profiles and all of a sudden WMP stopped and Second Copy popped a error up on the screen saying 21 files copied and 16,771 Deleted.! I looked on both drives and all gone.

So you never back those up at all? I used to go not backup for awhile and it does feel scary after a while. It's good that you still have positive attitude Yeh...after you lost like 60 gigs of mp3 you might as well pick up your pc and an ax and go outside and have your way with it....hehe. Sue Microsoft :) Welll man...hope so far we have given you some emotional support :)

Have you tried running scan disk and defrag after running the recovery?
