MY HDD Noooooooo..........

I bought Suse 8 PRO, First i created a ext2 partition by using Partition Magic after that i installed Suse and everything went ok but a few problems with the internet ( i coulndt connect ) after all that i booted to windows XP and it loaded fine, so i wanted to see how much space did Suse take because i saw something during the installation process about swap partitions and when i open Partition Magic it gave me an error, some thing about a sector i think, and it said reparing when it finished it booted and since that moment i am not able to boot to windows nor linux. When i try with windows it just stay there ( in the loading screen) and with linux it says something about unable to locate root or partition i think, i dont remember very well. After all that i said well lets try to boot with the XP cd and it didnt work, it froze. I tried with Win2k same thing it froze when loadin. I tried again with linux and i didnt installed because i want a dual boot since i need some programs on windows. Is there anything i could do to repair that ??? Would Fdisk help me ?? if yes where can i find Fdisk?

HELP PLEASE I CANT EVEN BOOT FLOPPIES OR CDS, when i tried to boot Fdisk only i said FDISK FAILED. WHAT CAN I DO.

When i boot with Linux CDs and try to create or modify partitions i get FDISK FAILED. How ever i can boot to the recovery console for linux what can i do with that??

what i would try to do.....if you have another machine running win2k or xp.....id try to make the drive a slave and stick it in that machine.....see if a working system can even read anything on it....if it does you can pull off the files you wanna save.

but it sounds like you drive may be fried.....i wouldnt pitch it without trying it on anpother machine first though.

how far along do you get when you try to boot off cd or floppy.....(when does it lock up or stop responding?)

To answer some of your questions ( HOW FAR CAN YOU BOOT? )

i could boot till winXP loading screen and same with lunux so that was a good sing because of that i could know that the HDD wasnt fried, I could not boot with win98 boot disk because the problem wa the boot sector on the HDD so the floppy was trying to locate a HDD and it couldnt, so i boot with a DOS disk and i fdisk /mbr then i deleted all the partitions and then i created one after all that i installed windows and then llinux again

oh and i didnt have any iportant files over there so ...
