Yeah it does. The companies that produce the software need to pay thier employees. They go to work, work for thier shift/work needed to be done, and go home. This is not done out of altrustic beliefs, they do it to have money. When thier work is pirated, you are in effect denying them money that they DESERVE. Would you do work for a client that had a history of not paying for thier services? No, its business suicide. They don't deserve your time or consideration at all, but when you use thier software, then you do. Its tantamount to outright theft to crack a serial or reg, simple as that.

And yet, more cd burners are sold, more dual tape decks, ad infinitum. A master carpenter will train his helper only to have that same helper go out and bid work away from him eventually. Although I will agree with the statement of theft, in it's entirety, the job factor is a wash, because so many others stand to benefit. For example, the cable industry. Who wants to dl 56k 600 meg games anyway?

But also remember, without theft, there is no need for our protective government agencies :D

I did, but the package is still unopened. :)
Simply run adaware, spybot, ZoneAlarm, HijackThis, AVG, update windows daily, have a router, don't open e-mail, turn off action scripting, don't use P2P networks, don't violate EULAs, and wear a condom to get Windows secured.

I don't like the fact that when you purchase a game it is non-refundable once opened. The stores stance is that it could have been copied etc. I can't understand that. I did that back in the early, early 80's with commodore 64 games. Me and my buds used to copy the old games we purchased at Toy's R Us then return them for out money back. I got over that thrill decades ago.

Not all buyers are pirates. There has to be a way to easily return a crappy game or application for that matter. Thus, yes I download to try out the product(s). What other way is there when you buy a $200 application and it's total garbage and the retailer won't refund your money or give store credit? If I purchased a $100 pair of Nikey's a store would let me return the shoes in a relatively legit amount of time even if I did wear the shoes for a bit and was unhappy with the product. Or even give store credit for the shoes to try another pair out.

You can download demo's but the demos themselves do not give all the features in most cases to fully test the products to my own needs. So hence downloading.

If I like it, I buy it....plain and simple. And I've purchased over 300 products that way. Games or high end applications. I don't blink twice shelling out $200 or even $300 for a software product.

Put it to you this way. If hardware could be "downloaded" so people could try it out everyone one of us would do it to see if the performance was everything it suppose to be etc. And since it's not...well you get my point. That's a far fetch example but it's the best analogy I could come up with.

There just has to be a better way for software companies to allow purchasing without the hassles noted above.

Intresting outlook on it,
but this was one game I did not download, I got it at my favorite pawn shop, where the owner seems to get brand new items for a very good price, like my new fosgate punch 15's for 35.00 each ;)

So the software was paid for, at least once

but I refuse to judge people, so my cash is green, as long as your pockets are hungry
