Civ3=no life...

Post by Freezing Moon »

Yup, that's right... Civ3 equals having no life. I played Civ3 last "night" until noon... and now just got up an hour ago (11:30 pm...)...........

Civ 2 was the reason for my bad grades in High School :p

Civ 3 is just as bad, I'll prolly never finish my degree now! :o

Messiah: not really, but it depends on how you play it as well. For example, if you take a small map, it will play MUCH faster than if you take a huge map. It's round based though

BTW: what are your guy's highscores? Mine (together with a friend) was 4368, we achieved a conquest victory with Alexander on Emperor (!!!) on a normal map & default rules (see below)... lots of luck involved though (like an awesome continent and 4-5 barbarian technologies).

Also, have you tried the Civ3 Editor? With it you cannot only edit maps, but also alter the rules of the game completely. For example, it allows you to create your own unique units, or create normal units (design, land- sea- airbased, attack, defense, tech & resource requirements, costs, attack, defense, movement, special attributes (and a LOT of them). You can also use your own rules for regular games, not just your own maps. But most importantly (to me, anyways, as I think the standard rules are well balanced), you can find many of the game's rules and settings here that are not mentioned in the manual. So if you are a civ-stat fanatic who tries to find the optimal ways like me, the editor is HEAVEN.

Cheers,
Ronald

Trying now to beat the game on Deity, on a custom map though. I don't think it's even possible in a normal game. Even now, with a continent close to optimal & contact with civs to trade tech it appears to be incredibly hard, but possible. I am curious about the final score... Year 810 A.D, and researching Medicine already :o . Space Race is turned off, so we should see a long and apocalyptic war.... just how I like it.... :D

I couldn't even beat Civ 2 or Alpha Centuri on the easiest setting... I royally suck. :(
So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!

Update on the Deity game... heheh...

6600 points so far, third place, year 1430, researching Miniaturization at 4 turns with a profit of 1504 per turn (Golden Age, by the way...), 2800 in the reserve, and now the army:
- 175 Modern Armours (main rival, China, doesn't even have Tanks yet....)
- 140 Mech. Inf.
- 40 Jet Fighters
- 50 Cruise Missles

Looking great so far, we're ahead in technology (quite a bit now), and researching in the absolute minimum timeframe...

I don't even want to estimate the final score....
