Can't get to the Router Admin page..

Post by FlyingMonkey »

I head on over to Asante.com for the latest firmware for my router .. yay, a new version .. 2.02. I download, install, all is good.

I try and connect to the router via 192.168.123.254 .. and now I'm no longer able to get to the Admin Page. I went upstairs to my second PC, tried connecting .. and finally, I got the password page. Enter the password, and I didn't see anything from that point on. And that was the only time I've been able to connect to the router (just once)

I am connecting to the router, actually. It's just nothing is displaying in the browser (I'm able to see the "Asante Cable/DSL Router Administration Area in the title bar)

I've got the Asante FriendlyNet FR3004LC router, and I've had it for a good six months now. It's been awesome until this point. :(

Any ideas?

Well I'll be damned. The second I post this, I try again and I connect. Now I'm having problems getting things to load. All the images are broken.. and now the page can't be displayed. I'm back to where I started.

It feels like I'm trying to access a website in Africa or something .. but the router is right next to me! :o

your router must have a reset botom push it and hold it for 30 seconds that will set everything to the defaults. You ll have to configure everything again, but thats better than enythign else.

a unexpected question

why did you choosed that brand i ve never heard of it in any review . if i were you i ll consider in getting a linksys or a netgear but well it's your stuff

try what i told you and let me know what happend

i got it because it has a built in LPT and COM Port. I can hook up an external modem to it when my cable goes down (often) and I can hook up a printer to it so I don't have to 1.) Printer share with Windows (Say the computer the printer is hooked up to goes down?) or 2.) Buy a printer server.

I get a lot of the above.. "Get a Linksys, get a DLink, get a Cisco .." Blah Blah. I have nothing but good things to say about this company and this router.

Finally, I think I found my problem. Instead of the reset button on the bottom of the router, there is a program that locates and then resets the default settings. For some reason, all my settings stayed in tact, but the admin page finally loaded.

Thanks for the help

i assume you have 3com router, right? hehehe, i got the same one and having that same problem ever since i upgrade firmware. it was so laggy when trying to access the admin page. the page never finish load. it timeout in the middle of process. also, while i access the router (nothing change yet), the internet connection of other computer stop too. i found a way to access the router by unplug it with the internet (cable modem). everything will load fast.
