How many of you guys watched the meteor showers last night?

Post by EvilAngel »

About 1:30 am PST my lady and I got our sleeping bag, pillows, blankets and layed down in our front yard and watched untill 3:00am ... :D Ah man, it was sweet!! . must have seen about 30-40 of those suckers fly by... amazing speed and quite a few left some serious trails! Right at the end we seen the brightest one and we could see intence illumination almost visable as fire.... It was great I really enjoyed it and it was pretty romantic too :D

Anyone else go out and see them?

Yeah, I went alone(was still romantic, sat on my hand till it fell asleep). I hiked up to the top of Mt. Pisgah and watched from up there. One meteor was so bright, it lit the ground up. Prolly was gettin 1-2 per sec up there, around 5,300 elev. Very pretty.

awsome. I watched from about 2:30 am to 5:am. The peak here was around 3:30 to 4:00am. There was one set of about 5 all at once. I'm curious as to why most here only seen maybe up to 200. Maybe because of light pollution? I probably seen double that. I was kinda hopping for the shower of the century. A thousand per hour would have been something else.

Well now that you ask...

Well, I saw a couple shooting stars, but they were so brief it was rather anticlimactic. Living within a city probably stunted the experience for me.

Anyway, I got bored, so I decided to try and improve the whole experience for my knucklehead neighbors that live beneath me who were also staring out their window.

I had a wee bit O’beer last night and also had some chicken wings, so naturally I had some gas. Inspiration struck. I grabbed a lighter, went to the window, pulled down my Flintstones jammies and stuck my ass as far out the window as it would accommodate. Then, every time I felt the twinge of an eruption beginning to take place, I’d fire up the lighter and put it to my puckered sphincter. Well words can barely capture the breathtaking beauty of nature at that point. Talk about your "Aurora Borealis", flames were shooting out my ass while dingleberries were sent flying into the cold night air twinkling like shooting stars until they burned themselves out several hundred feet later.

My neighbors were elated with glee to witness what they thought was Mother Nature is all her sublime glory. I heard shouts of, “Oh my God, oh my God, it’s absolutely beautiful” and “hurry honey, get your camera!”

I didn’t have the heart to explain the reality of what happened to them this morning, it’ll be our little secret. ;)

I had a sticky note on my monitor to remind me but still forgot. I had to get up at 7am for work, so I wasn't to willing to get up at 3 am. I really wanted to see it, but maybe someone has a video.

We set the alarm and got up at 1:30am PT and was out on the deck until about 2:40 or so and we were freezing our butts off! Was an awesome show and one of the best I have seen, but not THE best. It was not near as big as predicted, from what I have read. And from what I witnessed, I'd say that they were right about this year's Leonids being a bit over-hyped. It was a good show though, just not the life-changing event that some astronomers predicted.

We also have two more showers before the end of the year. The Geminids, Dec 13/14 and the Ursids that max out on Dec 22/23. Then the year starts off Jan 2/3 with the Quadrantids. There are 11 major meteor shower events per year. Source: http://www.amsmeteors.org

I got up watched for about an hour. It was a great show. The hype was a little overboard though.

I looked out side @2am. I saw a few of them. If I didn't live in the city I would of gotten a better view.
To sense the presence of an angel is like feeling the wind all around you. You cannot actually see the wind, but you notice it's movements, and you know that it is there.
