Is it true that the XP1800 only runs under windows XP?

Well the only true about this CPU is that it runs at 1530MHz or so .

No i didnt get confuse, I knew it was able to run under different operating systems but I was just wondering because 2 days ago my friend went to a local computer store and he told me that the sales person told him that the xp1800 only runs under windows xp.

Damn it.. when is this hammer gonna come out? and what speeds?

Im going to hopefully order my comp thursday if nothing goes wrong and Im lookin at he 1800xp but I think the KG7 only supports up to 1800Mhz so I hope teh hammer is atleast that low :p

the hammer has already been officially announced, i suspect we'll start hearin about it a lot in Q1 2002 ;)

The Hammers will need an entirely new motherboard anyway... they pretty much eliminate the need for a northbridge by integrating the memory controller, allowing the memory interaface to scale with the processore speeds :cool: . A really cool idea from AMD.

The only problem with the Hammer is that you're gonna need a 64-bit OS to run it...which I read will only be available to business' when released.

So the XP won't be outdated THAT fast...which is great cuz im buying 1 soon : :rotfl:
