So something warm, brown, and soft hit the fan last night, eh?

What happened? I see posts talking about the aftermath, but nothing about what happened, and the "offensive posts" have been deleted.

On the mods got power happy again and had deleted threads in which CompGeek and posted a link to his new site After that, several threads had been deleted fro unkown reasons, well, unkown to me...

Wouldn't a warning have been enough?

So it was all over a mod freaking because someone was advertising another forum/site from SG?

Not really my concern, but isn't that similar to the Microsoft issue? If anything a site like SG would or should encourage peeps to build their own sites......like building PC's and tweaking and stuff like that. He was acting in what he thought was the best interest of SG, even if it wasn't the right decision... So give him a break, we're all trying to make these forums a spam-free place where ppl can have a civilized conversation.

Well, I can say that we are one of the most liberal Cable/DSL sites out there too... Others just bash our tweaks to promote theirs, while we link to smaller sites and let them post their different views in here.

However, if someone comes here for the sole purpose of posting a link to his site and getting traffic, that's pure spam...

For the record, I no problems with that request. I kinda see what all of the hype about last night is now. When I first read the thread last night it was early, I must have signed off before it bacame unstable.

Just curious to what had happened, not really concerned though.

Just like in music and movies when ever there is some kind of
controvercy about content. It can increase the interest in people to find out what what all the hype is about. All these post and threads are a benifit to Speedforum. Just a thought. I could care
less.

Yep.. I succumbed to the tempation to visit speedforums beacuse I saw the hype about all the "bad" stuff they had there. I never would have gone except for the negative publicity.
