explain this to me!!!!!

Post by crazyman »

it was 106 degrees here today.

and I still see these guys in their BRAND new suburbans
and Accords
and Civics
and Maximas

with air-conditioning,

and ALL FOUR WINDOWS DOWN

blasting their killer sound systems,

TRYING to look like they are homies,

and it's 106 outside!....HELLO!!!!!!!

there I sit with my windows up!

the ac on,and on full fan speed,

both sun visors down,

and I am still trying to push the temp to more blue!

now I ask you ! who is more "cool"?....LOL

I work outside most of the day other than driving between locations. Man if I kept the air on, I'd die at work it gets so hot. My wife get's a bit miffed cuz we usually don't lower the thermostat below 78 degrees in the house. I freeze at them temps in the summer. LOL

I do know what your talking about, crazyman. Kids do the same thing up here. LOL
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

I don't know what year your car is,but on my 87 mazda truck,as long as there are no leaks,it cost me $275 to get new freon put in,it's more expensive on older vehicles.r12 I think it's called, you may have less tough environmental laws up there,so it may be cheaper,I don't know.it's really expensive here because of all the EPA laws.

OIC well its something to phone around about. My car is a '79. Might be hard to fix.

am I the only one that drives with her windows down and the ac on? I love the wind in my hair, plus I have that cool air coming from the vents. Plus, since i work nights; I'm always in the need of sunlight and hot air.

sometimes I feel like a vampire, I see the sun so rarely

I ride with my windows down and the AC on. I stay cool, and since there is no thermostat in the car, the ac never goes off so it's not like I'm wasting money. I'm cool windows up or windows down. I also bump my stereo system. Even if you can't hear my music, you feel my bass. If you don't like my bass then that's just too bad. If you have to ask why I do it, then you are not the type of person who will ever understand. It's been popular since then 80's. Get used to it. The one thing I hate are people with bass that rattles the car. It sounds horrible.

THANK YOu! those whose cars bass consist of the trunk lid or hatch bouncing should not be allowed to have there volume pushed that high. I don't mind the bass, it's the awful noise that the bad ones make. you know, the guy in moms car with the bass and volume all the way up on the stock system. Or the cars with cheap systems and cheap cars. Bad combo

Look,I know how long it's been popular,

and NO I DO NOT HAVE TO GET USED TO IT OR LIKE IT,

it's very annoying if you want to bring up the bass crap!

to be either relaxing at home and have the whole house rattle or pull up next to one at a light, because some jerk thinks it's cool!

andNO it's not just too bad when you bother other people,

poeple with attitudes like you are what is the problem with people today, nobody gives a $hit about anybody else!

if you hurt someone else or whatever, all you say is

"too bad,get used to it"

and I was not talking about wasting money or anything like that,

driving around on a 106 degree day with the windows down ac being worthless, just so everybody can hear your bass?

thats just plain ignorance in my book.

r e a d t h i s v e r y c a r e f u l l y

when it is 106 out side, the ac does very little too keep the interior cool,I have had to roll my window down before in this situation and I know that it takes a miute or two to cool back down.so when you have all the windows down and air that is 106 is blowing into the car constantly,I am sure that you just don't stay cool.it does not mater what you say about it,this is a fact.

and to be "cool" with bass and not COOL temp wise, thats just stupid!

anyway you are the type of person that would'nt understand anyway, right?
:p like you said about me,and you are right,, I WILL NOT EVER UNDERSTAND THAT.

Well I'm sorry if bass hurts you in some way crazyman. Actually I'm not sorry at all, because it doesn't hurt you at all, it annoys you. Well there are a lot of people who appreciate good clean bass coming from a nice ride. Maybe it's a cultural difference, maybe a generational difference. Unless you are going to come into my ride and turn it down for me, you do have to get used to it. As long as I keep my sound to within legal limits, then the problem is with you, not with me. A lot of things people do bother and annoy other people. That's the way it will always be unless someone creates some type of Barnyesque Utopia where we all sing, hold hands and bask in each others happiness.

Just to clarify. I appreciacte good bass, not a loud system. I don't have to turn my volume up much at all for the bass to be heard and felt outside of my car. It's not to annoy or look "cool," I like to truly feel my music.

ha ha ,,no dude it does'nt hurt, you are right,it is very annoying though.and I was just trying to make a point about nobody caring about other people anymore,to me I see other people with attitudes like that "me me me it's all about me"..thats all I was saying.and yes,you are also right,it is a generational difference for sure. :) the topic post was just my opinion and observation,it was not a personal attack on you.

about thumpers ...

Post by gizmoStatic »

for the super bass-thumping folks out there ..

a little-known fact ..

decibles do not damage your hearing .. high sound pressure level does (SPL). Ask Pete Townsend about SPL.

although very high frequencies hurt your hearing (shrill sounds such as bad feedback at a concert, girls screaming at n'sink .. whatever), very loud low *damages* you eardrums with high SPL. Sound is moved by pressure, and it takes alot more pressure to move a low frequency than a high one. Your eardrums have to do ALOT more work to try to hear low frequencies as they are physically so much bigger than high frequencies. get a sinewave tone generator and watch your woofer as you dial down the frequency spectrum to see what I mean.

You can safely use a subwoofer to put enough pressure out for you to 'feel' the bass, but when you are thumping your car to the point that other people are feeling it, you are seriously damaging your ears. The pressure being put out to have bass sound that loud is enormous.

I spent 10 years playing in loud rock bands on the road and new most of my responses to people talking to me usualy begin with "What?"

sorry if this comes off preachy, but it's something I know a little about.

Riceboys don't care about damaging their hearing. :p

One kid I knew was so proud that his car shook so much from the bass, that his rear-view mirror was shaken loose. I just gave him my usual  . :p
