Linksys router and ICQ 2000

Post by StanFL »

I can send and receive ICQ messages but cannot initiate or recieve file transfers on ICQ2000 while behind the Linksys router. Under ICQ99B I knew how to configure the firewall settings to fix it but they've totally revamped the firewall settings on ICQ2000. Anyone know how to configure it for this?

The Linksys is doing the DHCP, no ports are forwarded or anything exotic, it's just doing it's job currently.

Follow these steps:

Preferences>Connections>Server
1. Check Not using a firewall

Preferences>Connections>User
1. Check Not using Proxy
2. Check Use the following TCP listen port for incoming event and enter From: 20000 To: 20019

On the Linksys configuration page Forwarding enter the IP range of 20000-20019 and the IP of the computer(s) running ICQ, this should take care of your problem. I use this configuration on my system and works fine.
