Please help tweak netbook

Post by Jon Recker »

I'm trying to improve the speed to my netbook. I realize the wired desktop will be faster, but note the difference below from speedtest.net. Upload speeds are almost equal, but the download speed is embarrassing and frustrating. The TCP Analyzer results are after selecting the optimal setting in the TCP Optimizer v3.0.8. The optimizer has not been used on the desktop which is running Windows XP. The netbook is 802.11n compatible.

Please help!

Advertised speed: 16Mbps/2Mbps
Actual (netbook): download = 0.37Mb/s, upload = 5.62Mb/s, ping = 35ms
Actual (desktop): download = 25.14Mb/s, upload 5.73Mb/s, ping 26ms
Internet Provider: Comcast Cable
Modem: Arris TM722
Router: Netgear Wireless-N 150 Router WNR1000 v2
OS: Windows 7 Starter

Have you tried wired netbook ? Then check speed fluctuation !
What makes you: "...waking up in the morning so excited about & wanna FLY out of the door ?"
