25 Years ago today..where were you?
I remember this like it was yesterday, I was sitting in 4th grade at the time. Just about every student in the country I think was watching unlike today when its rare to catch on tv. The last video covers the story from the stands at the parents, students from that teachers school, other family and so on - the pure stunned reaction and look from everyone was just surreal.

i was working on some condos, taking a lunch break, sitting in the truck looking east.
i noticed something wierd in the sky and kinda joked, it looks like the space shuttle blew up and went off course. i had no idea it was launching that day though.
we started thinking about it and turned on the radio, sure as hell, on the news, they said the shuttle had just exploded.
man i felt so bad about even joking about it, and then really sad that they had to die for no reason, NASA really messed up on allowing it to fly that day, i have seen a few documentaries about it, very sad thing for sure

I remember when the shuttle blew up. I was on a roadtrip with a friend of mine to Florida, to visit with his mom and sister. Every time we stopped at a store to get a cold drink or gas, the people in the store had this somber look on their faces. It was like somebody they personally knew had died. Those people in Florida took the explosion personal, like it was their fault.
We didn’t know it before the trip started but his brother in-law was a bigtime dope smuggler. He asked me to roll a joint for them and I asked where it was, he said “go in the garage you’ll see it”. He wasn’t kidding, floor to ceiling that’s all there was, was bails of weed. I never saw so much weed in my life, before or since. I heard a while after we got back that he was caught. 25 years in prison. He’s probably still there. Unless he was released early for good time, that’s doubtful though, knowing him.

Ugly day for sure... I remember vividly. I was sitting in the kitchen at my Mother's house, waiting for everyone else to get ready to head out for my Father's funeral. He had just died suddenly of a heart attack a couple days prior, and I was there to pick up my mother and sister. When this came on the TV it was truly surreal. I remember thinking, WTF else can happen.
Yep... quite a day indeed.
