ping is the the sending of a packet of data to a server or another computer. The receiving computer reply's with a conformation packet to say it received the find. the round trip is measured and you get your ping time. Usually in "ms" Various tweeks can help but its mainly your ISP.

to get ready for the people that are going to help you. in a command prompt (start>run> cmd>enter) type "tracert www.google.com" and post your results. also post this page
