NETWORKING HELP???? please

sounds quite silly but im in need of some networking help.
Its not a very advanced network but
I have two Network connections on my computer
#1 is connected through Ethernet to my Modem.
#2 is connected to another computer in the house that i want to share the internet connection with.
I can Share files too and from the two computers but cannot establish an internet connection

For some reason when i click (Allow other Network users to connect though this computers internet connection) on #2 the
Connection number #1 disappears and cannot browse the internet at all. its like it gets switched off.
hope you guys can make some sense of that and get back to me ASAP wish some friendly ideas? Thanks heaps

What operating sytem?
Have you run through the network setup wizard?

If you are using Windows OS on both computers, then you can enable Internet Connection Sharing on computer #1 to share Internet with other computers.
