this is what my ip address was during the week when i was looking into it and i questioned my son last nite to see if he has changed any of my settings , he said he hadn't but im not to sure he was telling me last week how great his laptop was now and he's downloading loads of movies where as he could'nt before and now i cant get a stable connection on my Limewire or watch and news reals like i used to be able to,
also when he went out today i went in checked his lap top and when i went to turn it of(as he's now put his password on it) the thing poped up with a tab saying that other users where connected to this connection and if i shut down they may lose data , i shut it down anyway and i plugged out his Belkin usb wireless adapter and when i looked on my pc both the connections where still active??
only now my pc's slower than ever and i went on a site to find my ip address and it now shows up as 195.93.21.39

PLEASE ANYONE got any ideas WHATS UP and is any of this right??
im running winxp home Edition. forgot to say my son is now NOT USING AOL he dont even have it on his laptop.

The link to TCP/IP Analyzer is at the bottom left of the main page of our website. Just click the link and the Analyzer will run and display a report. Post that report in this thread.

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

TCP properties for IP = 172.212.21.175 (172.212.21.175)
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Creative ZENcast v1.02.08)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405820103030101010402

MTU = 1450
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.

MSS = 1410
MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 66270
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 33135

RWIN is not fully optimized (even though it is a comparatively large number). The unscaled RWIN value is lower than it should be. Also, RWIN being close to and above 65535 does not justify the header overhead of enabling TCP 1323 Options. You might want to use one of the recommended RWIN values below.

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
518880 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
259440 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
129720 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
64860 (MSS x 46)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 2651 kbps (331 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 1060 kbps (133 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 107 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

If you do reformat the hard disk, I suggest you upgrade to XP Pro SP2.

But any XP systems need weekly scanning for spyware/malware and cleaning of the registry.

Free programs that we recommended are:

SpyBot
SpywareBlaster
Ad-Aware 2007
CCleaner

We recommend Comodo free firewall over Zone Alarm.
