They got my neighbor last month. In the parking lot at Worldcom!

High ground clearance, a cordless sawzall, corrupt scrapyards, and you are good to go.

As of two weeks ago, all the local scrapyards have to photograph scrap sellers, get photo ID, report all purchases daily to the police, and are limitied in the quantity of Converters they can buy.

The stole the roof off city hall a few months back.

we were in the midst of adding onto our building at work and we had someone break in and steal a bunch of copper wire. the funny part was how they were cought. they hired some woman to strip all the sheeting off of hte wire so they could get a better price for the copper. however she turned them in when they stiffed her on her cut of hte money.

Moral of the story -- pay your debts and dont' pi$$ off a woman!

Copper theft is on the rise all over, especially in the Gulf south after the hurricane. Thieves aren’t just stealing wire, they are going into buildings under construction, kicking through walls and stealing copper pipes, wire, and even A/C units.
