Connection Dies Off

Post by tango55 »

Hi guys, recently i had this problem, after surfing the internet for about 1hr or so my connection went dead. When i try to connect to a website it show "fail to connect" but my lan at system tray show its connected. Only thing i can do is to disconnect & reconnect then it can work. So what could be the problem? Any settings that i can check for? Thanks in advance...

Ok, first things first. I need to know what kind of connection you are using.

xDSL, ISDN, Cable, T1, Ethernet WAN, etc.

What operating system are you using?

Did this just start happening or has this been going on for some time?

Who is your ISP?

Are you on a wireless connection or have a wireless router inline with your modem?

Are you using DHCP vs. a static IP address?

Hi Alex thanks for your quick response. My ISP is Singnet Broadband ADSL 1024 up/ 256 down connect using Win XP PPP0e. My OS is Win XP SP2 & i m connect directly to the modem using cable. i think i m using DHCP vs. a static IP address but not too sure, how can i check? Previously i didn't encounter this problem before but i also didn't change any thing recently. If you need any info let me know again. Thanks alot...

Are you staying in a high-rise or in a landed property?

If high-rise, you may need to replace your ADSL spiltter, the little box that split the phone line to your modem and telephone set.

If landed property, a bad phone cable between the house and the box outside the fence may need replacing.

Ok......Prank phone calls have nothing to do with your internet connection.

I do mean that most respectfully..
You should start with calling your state attorney general’s office and explain whats going on .
