computer reboots during startup

Post by IceCube »

For some unknown reason, my main computer is rebooting(i don't know if it's more like a shutdown, because it I see a blank screen, could hear the hardrives turning off, then the computer restarts and I could hear the harddrives turning on again) itself during the startup process. It reboots/shutdowns right after the windows loading screen and before my desktop actually shows up.

I've turned off the "Automatically restart" feature and get the following error message:

"The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000022 (0x00000000 0x0000000)
The system has been shutdown."

The computer works fine in safe mode.

Specs:

Windowns XP Pro
AMD XP 2200
768MB DDR RAM
120GB and 40GB Maxtor harddrives
Radeon 9800 Pro
Samsung DVD Burner
Liteon 16x DVD Drive
450W Power Supply

thanks!

Description
The 0xc0000022 error is a security error. A regular user does not have rights to read a file that one of our software programs use.

Cause
Some 3rd party programs can errantly change the permissions on a file
I'd go to safe mode and see what programs are starting up...

Goto Start, then Run, then type in msconfig.

From there goto the Startup tab and see what's running. If you don't know what is good and bad, post a screenshot here and myself or others can check to see if any startup programs are conflicting and causing this problem.

I'm betting it's a program of some kind, or virus caused something to mess up the logon process.

it could also be your PSU or ur video card, cause I used to have my pc reset constantly after I it went bad and I removed the video card and it worked fine

could be the same thing or could be something that you added in your pc or upgraded (driver wise)
