Computer Help, Power Supply? Mobo? What's going on?

Post by IceCube »

So my computer failed on me 2 weeks ago. When I turn it on, there is power(dvd rom, harddrive) but it won't boot, I can't get into bios and there is no display. At first, I suspect that it was the CPU(It was an XP 1800+), so I installed a new one, but no, still won't boot. So I thought it must be the Mobo.

I then tried to use my friend's Old Mobo, RAM, CPU, and Video Card but it still won't boot. We thought that his Mobo was dead too because he hadn't used it for a long time.

So yesterday I got some old components, Mobo, RAM, CPU for a rather good price. I installed them and after some fiddling it boots up! I installed Windows XP and everything was working find.

But this morning when I turn it back on, it won't boot again! No display, no beeps, the same old thing like it was 2 weeks ago!

I have no idea what is going on. Could this be a faulty Power Supply? Or could it be other faulty components? The only thing I could really think of right now is the power Supply. The Power supply that I'm using has 350W of power.

My current specs are:

AsRock K7S41GX Mobo
XP 2200+
768MB ddr 266 RAM (512+256)
GeForce 4 4200Ti
16x Liteon DVD-Rom
Samsung DVD burner (T552)
Maxtor 120 GB and 40 GB Harddrives

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Try getting it to boot up and clear the CMOS for a while. Then try to boot up again and see what happens. I would also make sure you had the latest bios for your motherboard ect. See if that helps.
